Grand Chapter Awards & Courses

Benjamin Hurd Award

GUIDELINES FOR DETERMING A RECIPIENT OF THE BENJAMIN HURD JR. MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL

A recommendation should be in writing to the Grand Chapter office from the sponsoring Chapter with the endorsement from the District Deputy.
In order for Grand Chapter to grant these requests, a Companion must have served in the best interest of Royal Arch Masonry in Massachusetts, meritoriously, above and beyond the call of duty and in this manner for at least ten years, notwithstanding, his total years of membership. This medal was designed as an award for those who have given exceptional service to Capitular Masonry in Massachusetts and particularly, to their own Royal Arch Chapter.

Ritual Award

The purpose of Capitular ritual training is to strengthen the significance of Royal Arch Masonry, enlighten the mind, and polish the spirit of the candidate, as well as any exalted Companion. However, labored excellence in the quarries of our Craft can only be achieved through habituation of training, study and discipline. The Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Massachusetts is therefore pleased to recognize Companions who excel in the ritualistic presentation of the Capitular Degrees. This prestigious honor is provided by The Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Massachusetts to Companions who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in their ritualistic endeavors, as determined eligible by an established scoring system

Grand High Priest Award

While the High Priest of a Royal Arch Chapter applies for this award, he cannot do it alone. The requirements are met through the combined efforts of the entire Royal Arch Chapter. The High Priest draws on the wisdom of Solomon to provide the leadership and incentive to inspire and stimulate the members of your Royal Arch Chapter.

This award will challenge you to perform not only the activities required by the Grand Royal Arch Chapter’s Constitutions and Digest and your local By‐ laws, but also to plan and execute beyond the bare minimums, and to build your team into one that fulfills the very mission of Royal Arch Masonry. The work of all the Companions will serve to strengthen the Chapter and make the Chapter a driving force across Massachusetts Freemasonry.

Capitular Development Course

This Course is intended to make you more familiar with the history, background, ritual, symbols, teachings of the four Degrees which comprise the Capitular Degrees of the York – or American – Rite.

This course is intended to be taken after the Candidate has completed the Holy Royal Arch Degree, and preferably in a group setting, with an experienced Companion acting as Moderator for the group.

Capitular Rookie Program

The Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Massachusetts is pleased to present this Capitular Rookie Program, intended to accomplish the same goals and objectives as the Master Mason Rookie Award Program instituted by the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. It is the hope of the Grand Chapter that this program will foster increased participation and retention among our newly exalted Companions

Order Of High Priesthood

The Order of High Priesthood (or Anointed Order of High Priests) is a ceremonial degree conferred on elected and installed High Priests of local Royal Arch Chapters. It explores the biblical narrative of Abraham and High Priest Melchizedek, and qualifies the newly elected leader to serve over a Chapter.
